Spring Pruning: Trimming Away the Overload for a Clearer Mind

With spring in full bloom, I recently stepped into my garden to trim back the overgrowth. Plants were spilling over, taking up space, and competing for light. As I cut away the excess, I realized it was a perfect metaphor for my own life. Over time, tasks, habits, and self-imposed expectations had started to feel heavy and overwhelming.

Taking a Break from the 'Shoulds'

For the past six weeks, I gave myself a break from social media. I traveled, spent time with family, and freed myself from the constant need to update, polish, and perfect. The most surprising part? Without the regular social media, I still received new work and repeat bookings. The world kept turning, and I felt lighter without the constant 'shoulds' hanging over me.

The Power of Letting Go of Excess

We each have our own version of 'excess', but no matter what it looks like, it can weigh us down. By cutting out the busywork and reducing my list of 'must-dos', I noticed new ideas and creative thoughts starting to emerge. I wasn’t rushing, and I had room to let things percolate rather than push them aside.

Creating Space for Clarity and Fulfilment

When we simplify, we create room for clarity. With that space, we can go slower, take thoughtful steps, and give ideas a chance to grow. Taking one thing at a time has helped me reconnect with what matters most and say goodbye to distractions.

A Fresh Start for the Season

This spring pruning - both in my garden and in my life - has been a reminder that a little empty space can be powerful. By letting go of what I thought I 'should' be doing, I’ve created room for new opportunities and joy. Simplifying our surroundings, commitments, and schedules isn’t just about decluttering; it’s about making room for the unexpected moments that bring real fulfilment. 🌱
